An activity resource hub for...
The Joy of Moving is a CSR programme run globally by Ferrero, who needed a new online space to engage audiences and share programme information, tools and resources.
The challenge
The resource hub is a place for parents and sports clubs to access Joy of Moving programme materials. These include not just games and activities, but plans to promote physical activity and healthy living. For parents, it needed to be easy to find fun games and activities to play at home. Clubs needed a more in-depth experience, with the ability to sign in and access detailed branded materials.
Pixel Fridge were brought in to define and build the platform experience. Ferrero also needed help with ongoing optimisation of the platform and responding to changing priorities brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The work
Understanding the Joy of Moving from a user perspective was the first priority. Once we’d defined who the audience were, and how they would interact with the programme, we started to plan the interface around top tasks. We ran workshops with Ferrero to prioritise the various user needs, leading to planned user flows and a site architecture. The process allowed us to structure the hub in a user friendly way.
Working through an iterative prototyping phase, we quickly reached a logical user journey. Moving from greyscale prototypes into branded designs, we created an elegant interface, whilst staying faithful to the Joy of Moving brand.
After agreeing the user experience we developed the responsive front end templates and integrated with Drupal 8. Providing the Joy of Moving team with a flexible content management system meant that they could update programme materials and activities whenever they wished. We were also able to streamline the registration and onboarding process for new users, through the improved website. Instead of relying on manual, offline communication to setup and register new programme participants, they will soon be able to register directly through the website.
The site has increased the opportunity for participation as a whole, and become a key element of Ferrero’s UK CSR initiative.

The team at Pixel Fridge have been a delight to work with. Professional, helpful and most importantly understanding when the needs of the project shift – a true partnership approach. I would not hesitate to work with the team on any new projects as it is always a pleasure to do so.
