One of fintech's fastest growing unicorns, Wise are shaping the future of finance. We designed and built an intuitive and engaging new job-seeking experience, more reflective of their core product.
One of the biggest names on the FinTech scene, Wise are shaping the future of international money transfers. The company have grown at an incredible pace, going from one employee to over 1,700 in just eight years. During this crucial phase of growth, attracting the right kinds of talent is a huge priority.
Wise’s previous careers website was very basic. It was little more than a simple feed of jobs. Their recruitment and HR teams desired a much more robust and ambitious careers experience. One that reflected the high quality of the core product, and more accurately depicted the Wise values and ethos.
Pixel Fridge were tasked with providing a content-rich and intuitive new experience for jobseekers. Our mission was not only to help quality talent find the right roles, but encourage the self-deselection of candidates who weren’t quite right.
What we did
We started with user research. We held interviews and usability testing sessions with recent Wise hires, allowing us clarify goals and pain-points. Equipped with these findings, we then facilitated workshops with the various business stakeholders. Through close collaboration, we were able to define and prioritise the site’s requirements. By focusing our discussions completely around user needs, we could produce an intuitive experience for candidates.
Using a greyscale wireframe prototype, we quickly started testing our ideas with both internal and external Wise audiences. Iterating based on overall themes from the feedback, we worked our way towards a final interface design. Working closely with the Wise brand team, we bought our designs to life. The responsive designs used a modular approach, future-proofing them against content and feature additions over time.
Building the site involved deep integration with ‘Greenhouse’ – Wise’s application tracking system. We tackled the development process in two main phases; front end templates and CMS / API integration. This allowed us to produce a richer experience, pushing the WordPress platform to its boundaries. The site classifies jobs and handles applications, creating massive efficiencies for the recruitment team.
Investing in ongoing support means that we continue to work closely with Wise, optimising and evolving the site based on usage data. Using data to steer continuous site enhancements means that we’re always providing the best possible candidate experience.
